Islington: New tech hotspot in the UK
A RECENT ARTICLE FROM CITY A.M. REVEALS THAT ISLINGTON HAS BEEN CROWNED THE NUMBER ONE HOTSPOT FOR TECH START-UPS.
Figures from UHY Hacker Young, an accountancy, delineate that the new tech hub created almost 20,000 new businesses in the last year, coming out on top as the UK’s number one tech hotspot.
An increasing number of up-and-coming start-ups have been flocking to Islington for its affordable prices, and easy connectivity to the financial epicentre of London and beyond.
Old Street ‘Silicon Roundabout’ came second to Islington in terms of creating new businesses. The tech hub, renowned for housing Microsoft and Google, created over 15,000 new businesses this last year. However, the nascent popularity of office space on the ‘Silicon Roundabout’ has been outstripping supply, so as a result many businesses are turning to Islington as an alternative.
It is likely that tech companies are drawn to Islington for its fantastic location and amenities. Highbury & Islington have in recent years emerged as a popular destination for nightlife. There are plenty of buoyant establishments that provide space for staff to blow off steam and unwind after work. In addition, the area boasts a number of green spaces tucked away from the area’s hectic streets.
Many tech pioneers experiencing rapid success still call Islington their home. For example, Automata, pioneers in automation, found international success in their Islington office and continue to base themselves in the borough.
The area simply dovetails affordability, exciting creative workspace and excellent connectivity; all the credentials high on the agenda for choosing office space.
